The widespread popularity of short videos has led to a surge in overconsumption, with statistics revealing that over 60% of domestic users spend at least an hour daily scrolling through such content.
Nobel laureate Mo Yan has also urged for a reduction in short video usage, emphasizing the importance of reading as a more beneficial use of leisure time.
Mo Yan acknowledged his occasional indulgence in short videos but expressed remorse afterward, questioning the value of spending time on trivial content. "Short videos are a fleeting trend, while reading remains a fundamental and enriching pursuit for our minds," he said.
